Right now, each state in the U.S. is offering its own special deals to help people save money, especially for individuals who are running their own businesses.

In these tough times, there's a big opportunity in Pennsylvania to get some money back—up to $1,000! This is great news for many people who could use a little extra help with their rent or property taxes.

Starting on July 1, 2023, Pennsylvania is going to start giving out these tax refunds. The amount of money you can get will depend on how much you earn and what your situation is. This special program is especially for:

  • People who are 65 or older
  • Widows and widowers who are 50 or older
  • Disabled people who are 18 or older

To be eligible, you can't make more than $46,520 a year, but don't worry—if you get Social Security payments, they won't count this as part of your income when they decide if you qualify.

Also, if someone in a family passed away but would have qualified, their family members (heirs) might still be able to apply for the refund. The important thing is that the person who passed away met all the rules and lived for at least one day in the year they're applying for.

You have until June 30, 2025, to submit your application, and the money should start coming in this summer. While the idea may not be brand new, it has been updated to better deal with the current tough times. Many people are struggling because of rising costs for everyday things and housing.

To apply, it works like this:

  • If you made $0 to $8,270 last year, you could receive up to $1,000.
  • If you made between $8,271 and $15,510, you could receive up to $770.
  • If your income was between $15,511 and $18,610, you could get up to $460.
  • For incomes between $18,611 and $46,520, the maximum is $380.

Plus, if you live in Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, or Scranton, you might even get an extra $190 to $500.

To apply, you need:

Remember, don't miss the deadline which is June 30, 2025. Good luck, and here's hoping you get that extra help!
